“I’M INSPIRED BY HUMAN EMOTION. WE LIVE IN THESE BODIES AND ALL KINDS OF FEELINGS SWEEP THROUGH US AND MOTIVATE MAGIC AND TRAGEDY, PAIN AND DESIRE. IT’S INCREDIBLE REALLY.”
Up on a hill, Cat Pierce opens the door of her Silverlake home to reveal a warm interior echoing her personality; full of life, delicacy, and humor, Cat shows grand skills in creating forms, colors and shapes. Whether it’s painting, composing music or illustrating a set of tarot cards, she leaves a sensual trace on all things she passes by.
What do you most like about your line of work?
I love so many aspects of it…I love creating songs, pulling from emotion and experience and then having something tangible to share. I love making beautiful visuals to enhance the ideas behind the song, but I guess the best part is when the songs I’ve created connect with someone and I get to share that feeling with another.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by human emotion. We live in these bodies and all kinds of feelings sweep through us and motivate magic and tragedy, pain and desire. It’s incredible really.
How would you describe your style?
I like to feel comfortable and sexy and that can shapeshift into all different looks. I switch it up depending on my mood but the most important thing is that I feel good.
Do you recall your first favorite T-shirt?
When I was young my parents didn’t have much money so they’d take us to this t-shirt outlet store where you could get 3 shirts for $12. I remember I found one that was the most beautiful pale blue and it was so soft. I would tie it in a little knot at the waist…it was the 80’s after all.
What’s next for you?
I’m going to finish and release my album this year. I also want to work on my paintings and finish the tarot deck I’m designing. I feel very lucky to get to do what I love.
